We are currently hiring a full-time Production Supervisor for one of our clients & Canada’s largest flower importers, located near the Eglinton Avenue and Dixie Road area in Mississauga.
This person will report to the warehouse manager and is responsible for the planning and coordination of activities related to their team within a fast paced facility. This role will supervise the production team, and will work to ensure the achievement of all targets including safety standards, quality standards, productivity levels, and customer service levels.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the day to day direction, coordination and evaluation of their department
Required to train employees; plan, schedule, assign and direct work; assess performance; manage employees; quickly address concerns and resolve production issues
Work closely with management team, coordinate with other supervisors to transfer employees between departments as necessary to balance workload and maintain employee deployment and overall performance.
Monitor labour hours and advise production manager of changes in procedure or conditions that impact operating costs. Monitor and anticipate changes in labour requirements.
Monitor individual performance to ensure all employees perform above the standards for safety, quality and production.
Ensure all employees understand and uphold the company values and conduct expectations.
Maintain open and respectful communication with employees and conduct regular department meetings.
Will provide ongoing coaching and mentoring the team.
Create and maintain a fun, safe and productive work environment.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3 years related supervisory experience
University/college education preferred
Proven leadership, problem solving and team building skills
Strong Excel skills
Ability to interpret and provide training on policies and procedures
Creative thinking with “out of the box” solutions
A strong workplace health & safety background; WSIB and First Aid certification preferred
Must be certified on material handling equipment
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and group presentation skills)
Must have intermediate to advanced systems knowledge including Microsoft Office
Flexible to work various shifts, including Sundays to Thursdays
Fresh flower experience preferred but not required

WAGE/SALARY: $25.00/hr
